What is body image?πŸ§β€β™€οΈπŸ§β€β™‚οΈ

Body image is how we think and feel about ourselves physically and how we believe others see us. There are so many ways we can think about our body and the way we look. There might be some days when you like your body/parts of your body and other times when you struggle with how you look.

A lot of the time the way we perceive ourselves is influenced by what is happening in the media, on TV, comments from family or friends, clothing and much more. Consequently, this can lead to mental health illnesses.

What to do if you are worried about how you look…

πŸ”Έ Be kind to yourself, remember a lot of pictures in the media are a digitally changed to look β€˜perfect’

πŸ”Έ Unfollow account that make you feel bad about yourself

πŸ”Έ Focus on the things which you like about your body

πŸ”Έ Spend time with people who make you feel positive about yourself

πŸ”Έ Talk to someone you trust

Body image is a huge topic and here is just a snapshot of what it can look like/what you could do to try and help your outlook. If you would like any more advice or someone to talk to, your welfare team are always here for you πŸ’™

If you think you or someone you know might be struggling with Body image there is help available though your GP, Mind or Beat eating disorders πŸ“ž
