Meet the Committee

Our committee are all volunteers and passionate about the club, our members and Farnham.

  • Philip Potter

    Chair
Philip is a Farnham boy, born and educated locally. He has been at the club since formation and keeps himself busy running a business, spending time with the family and travelling. He recently hiked to Everest Base Camp with his wife Kit.

Just don’t ask Philip to complete your race details as he cant even get his own name right and has appeared at events with some very strange wording on race numbers

  • Emma Roberts

    Club Treasurer
Emma joined FTRC when it was founded in 2020. At that time she had a bit of a love / hate relationship with running, but quickly found the power of group and social running.  With two ultra marathons now under her belt she no longer looks for excuses not to get out – no matter what the weather.

When not out running Emma balances a busy job in financial services with family life, including trying to keep a crazy doodle dog entertained and behaving herself, which is somehow way harder than bringing up 3 girls.

  • Sophie Mcguinness

    Club Secretary
Sophie joined the club in March 2022 having run a few 5KMs before.

She enjoys her social running and her favourite event is the half marathon distance where her times have really improved.

During her runs she is known to stop for jelly babies and motivated by the glass of wine at the end.

  • Sharon Robinson

    Membership Secretary
Sharon has lived in Farnham all her life and has been a member of the running club almost since it started. Has always been passionate about staying active and running has been a significant part of her live for just over 13 years.

She enjoys meeting all the members and loves to chat and run!  Has run London Marathon twice, is a Guinness book of records holder for running the first London Virtual Marathon and in 2023 completed the Chicago marathon. Usually says never again, this will be the last marathon but has now got the bug to complete all 6 Abbots Majors.  Dedicated to training hard and keeping focused to accomplish whatever is thrown in her way.

  • Stuart Williamson

    Welfare Officer
Stu has lived in Farnham since 2005 with his family. He has been a member of a running club in Farnham since 2011 but a founder member of Farnham Town Running Club in 2020.

Stu enjoys running the marathon distance and has completed over 20 marathons in 11 different countries so far. His aim is to complete the 6 x Abbott majors before he gets too old and decrepit.

Outside of running, he does a passable impression of a Farnham Town youth team football manager, albeit with mixed success.

  • Zoe Davies

    Welfare Officer
Zoe joined FTRC at the beginning of 2023, she has been a member of other running clubs previously but since joining FTRC her confidence and passion for running has increased.

Zoe recently completed the Brighton marathon and has undertaken several half marathons, which is her preferred distance. Zoe’s aim is to complete the super half series which consists of 6 half marathons in 3 years!

Outside of running Zoe keeps herself busy with her job as a teacher, travelling, climbing mountains and spending time with family and friends. She’s always doing something!

  • Sean Woodcock

    Social Secretary
Sean has been a member since the club started and attended the local schools when growing up,

His preference is to run on roads and has completed London marathon twice and numerous half marathons.

Out of running he spends time down his allotment or sat on the beach sea fishing. (The only time your see him on sand).

  • Tanya Jeffrey

    Coaching Officer
Tanya has lived in Farnham all of her life having been born in Farnham Hospital. She has been a member of the club since it was formed and has developed a love of trail running, having completed a few trail marathons and ultra marathons.

Tanya is passionate about encouraging and supporting runners on their C25K journeys and seeing the progress that they make.

In her spare time she loves a good cup of tea and a relaxing yoga stretch session.

  • Laura Bartlett

    Coaching Officer
Laura joined FTRC in 2021 after moving to the area and spotting the club kit! Laura has been a part of several running clubs over the past 13 years, but since joining FTRC she has discovered a passion for really challenging herself. In the past year she has run two marathons and an ultra-marathon and has no plans to stop anytime soon!

Watch out when you’re taking a group photo though as she tends to try and hide!

  • Amy-Claire Palmer

    Committee Member
Amy joined the club in October 2021 (along with Norm) and only really started running during Covid in 2020.

Amy loves trail running and her favourite distance is 10k. She is also a keen dancer in particular salsa.

It is rumoured that she only joined the club because she loved the club colours and she is renowned for her flying feet event photos.

  • David White

    Committee Member
David joined FTRC shortly after it was formed and has been on the committee for the last 2 and a half years.

After recovering from ankle surgery in 2019, David struggled with that 'get up and go' attitude until he started with FTRC.

Now a regular attendee to club nights as well as solo runs 2-3 times a week, David enjoys his running and has completed the London Marathon as well as events like Endure 24 and many 10k races more locally.

  • Greg Strutton

    Committee Member
Greg moved to Farnham in 2014 and has been members of other local running clubs before joining FTRC not long after it formed.

Greg has run a handful of marathons, a whole bunch of half marathons (fav distance) and a bundle of 10K’s and would love to run an ultra one day.

When not running, Greg likes spending time with his family and likes brewing his own ales.

  • Chris Williams

    Committee Member
Chris has lived in the local area all his life.He has been a member of Farnham Town Running Club since June 2023. Chris enjoys running 10k which is his favourite distance, but has started running longer distances since being at the club. He ran the Great South Run and has his First half marathon in Weymouth booked in. He is considering doing a marathon at some point in the future.

He also said to his wife that club running was not for him, how wrong he was!

  • Peter Mulley

    Committee Member
Pete joined FTRC in February of 2023. A regular runner for many years he has completed the London Marathon and many half marathons. He enjoys the community spirit of club running and relishes country trail routes. Since joining the club Pete has completed his first Ultra Marathon.
