Farnham Town Running Club celebrates the successes of 2023!

Introduced by the Farnham Town Crier, Michael Stephens, on Friday 1st March, the members of Farnham Town Running Club (FTRC) consolidated their incredible year with their 2nd ever annual awards evening! The club, initially founded in 2020, has gone from strength to strength providing an inclusive space for people of all abilities to get involved, challenge themselves, and make some new friends along the way. The club’s success has already been recognised in the community as they were named Farnham Sport Club of the Year 2023 back in January; so clearly, they had a lot to celebrate!

Gathered in the Maltings in Farnham, the members came together for an evening of food, drink, celebration, and trying to recognise each other when not wearing their running gear! As well as a chance to celebrate their recent award, the members and committee had chosen several members of the community to receive additional recognition. Naturally, as a fully inclusive club, these awards focussed on both significant achievements and also some more light hearted moments that brought joy to club members.

Female Rookie of the Year - Rachel Sturdy

Male Rookie of the Year - Owen Hardy

Fashion Trendsetters - Julie and Chris Williams

Most Improved Male - Jack Jeffrey

Most Improved Female - Carla White

Worst Run Leader route - Pete Mulley

Funniest Club Moment - Sophie McGuinness and Jack Jeffrey

Run Leader of the Year - Susan Doherty

Members Member of the Year - Tony Newton

Contribution to the Club - Tanya Jeffrey

Chair’s award for long service to the Club - Stuart Williamson 

Farnham Town Running Club’s Chair, Phillip Potter, had this to say of the event, “I am so proud of everything the club has accomplished over the past year and these awards have really allowed our members the chance reflect on such a brilliant year. I’d like to extend our thanks to our club sponsors, Aurora Legal, Melior Wealth and The Shepherd and Flock, without whom we would not be where we are”.
